Lumedia Musicworks offers online and live events for its fifth season. The early music ensemble launches with Stories, a comedic mini-documentary and performance series. Episode Three tells the story of composer Wilhelmine von Bayreuth.

Lumedia Musicworks will launch its 2021-22 season with the debut of its latest Stories installment about composer Wilhelmine von Bayreuth of Prussia.

The popular Stories series began last season by telling the stories of various female composers of music composed before 1750. Each episode includes a comedic short film produced by Lumedia’s ensemble and concludes with a performance of her work. Von Bayreuth (1709-1758) was the older sister of Frederick the Great.

“These ladies led fascinating lives and wrote imaginative and compelling music,” said harpsichordist Molly Hammond of Houston, who plays Wilhelmine in the episode and performs her concerto at the end. “Their stories are just beginning to be told.”

To register for Episode 3 of Stories, go to https://www.lumediamusicworks.com/season. There is no charge for admission. The link will be active from 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, until 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30.

“Lumedia’s 2021-22 season is crafted to be online and in-person with short film release events in our local community. We plan to end the season with a live show in May,” said Julianna Emanski of Frisco, Lumedia’s founder and artistic director. “We are committed to bringing early music to new audiences in innovative ways, particularly with our award-winning short films.”
